Post observerships and electives thank you letter sample

This in specific important for IMGs who do USCE as the case in observerships, electives or externships. Its a good think to keep  a positive communication with your referees especially if they have a residency program and might be already considering you as a potential candidate in the match.

You will have to make it brief, in small font own hand writing and on a traditional thank you card that is widely used by IMGs. This small card will not make them bored or annoyed reading it and in the same time they will keep it around for a while enough to remember you for a letter of recommnedation if they didn't furnishe it yet for you or for the match interview selection later on.

This is an example of the thank you letter after observership:

Dear Dr Yyyy

I would like to thank you for accomodating me for the observership month in your department. It was really a great experience for me. I would also like to thank you for the letter of recommendation you wrote for me. I highly appreciate your kindness and the time you and your team devoted for me. Hoefully we will work together in the future.
