What is Advanced Endoscopy?
Advanced Endoscopy is a subspecialty in Gastroenterology that focus on performing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic interventional endoscopic procedures.
The fellows in training as well as the interventional gastroenterologist in practice will get experience in performing many interventional gastroenterological procedures that include: Advanced endoscopic imaging (confocal endomicroscopy, narrow band imaging, chromoendoscopy), Endoscopic mucosal ablation (carbon dioxide cryotherapy, radiofrequency ablation (RFA)) and Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) therapy for Barrett’s esophagus, Endoluminal stenting, Diagnostic and Interventional Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) including EUS-guided FNA and EUS-guided interventions (gastroenterostomy, cyst and pseudocyst drainage, celiac plexus block, rendezvous procedures, etc.), Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) (including ampullectomy, pediatric ERCP, papillotomy, stenting, cholangioscopy, pancreatoscopy), Device-assisted Enteroscopy (single balloon, Spirus), and management of leaks and fistulae.
